Personalized mug with the Irish language name Mairtín - a novel Irish gift for a birthday or Christmas.

Mairtín is the Irish for Martin, and is pronounced "mar-teen".

All elements are hand-drawn and include Celtic designs and calligraphy. The edges are Celtic knot-work, as inspired by traditional art and the Book of Kells.

The letter M is decorated with a dog (madra in Irish) or a hound (cú). My main inspiration was the story of Cú Chulainn (the hound of Culann) from the Ulster Cycle of Irish mythology. In this story a young boy called Sétanta kills the fierce guard dog of Culann in an act of self-defence. However, regretting his action, he offers himself as a substitute until a new hound could be raised up as a replacement. Henceforth in his life he was known as Cú Chulainn (Cuhullin in English) and became a great warrior hero. The name Conor (or Connor) originates from the Irish name Conchobhar, which means “lover of hounds” or “lover of wolves”.

This beautiful ceramic mug is perfect for any event of the day. Your morning coffee, a hot chocolate, or any other hot beverage you enjoy. The mug is glossy white and the prints come out beautifully and vividly on it. The print retains its quality and luster when used in both microwaves and the dishwasher.
