Personalized mug with the Irish language name Ailín - a novel Irish gift for a birthday or Christmas.

Ailín is the Irish for Alan.

All elements are hand-drawn and include Celtic designs and calligraphy. The edges are Celtic knot-work, as inspired by traditional art and the Book of Kells.

The letter A is decorated with a fox (sionnach in Irish). In Breton (another Celtic language) alan is a colloquial name for a fox. Foxes appear in Irish folklore, and one particular story includes St Brigid, who is one of the three Patron Saints of Ireland (along with St Patrick and St Columba). St Brigid is said to have tamed a wild fox to appease the King of Leinster whose pet fox was accidentally killed. The king arrested the man who had killed his fox, and Brigid secured the man’s release by offering her newly tamed fox as a replacement pet. However, when St Brigid left the castle the fox missed her, and eventually it ran away.

This beautiful ceramic mug is perfect for any event of the day. Your morning coffee, a hot chocolate, or any other hot beverage you enjoy. The mug is glossy white and the prints come out beautifully and vividly on it. The print retains its quality and luster when used in both microwaves and the dishwasher.
